Golf Course Green Grass

SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum

SEAISLE SUPREME PASPALUM DESCRIPTION:

SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum, a dense grass developed by Dr. Ron Duncan, former professor of Crop and Soil Sciences at the University of Georgia, is the newest cultivar of Seashore Paspalum. The SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum boasts a list of advantages that make it an ideal choice for use on golf courses, from tee, to fairway, to green. SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum has all of the typical paspalum attributes of rich, dark green color and fine blade growth. However, this variety is unmatched for its low maintenance and irrigation requirements. SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum is the most salt-tolerant of all commercially grown paspalums and earns high marks environmentally for requiring minimal fertilizer and pesticide applications due to its dense turf. ¬¬

WATERING SEAISLE SUPREME PASPALUM:

SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum is more salt-tolerant than any other commercially grown paspalum and can tolerate most types of alternate water sources including: wastewater, effluent gray water, brackish water, and even ocean water/fresh water blends. Plus, SeaIsle Paspalum often requires less nitrogen and less water than other warm season cultivars.

MOWING SEAISLE SUPREME PASPALUM:

Mowing has a significant effect on lawn appearance. The height of cut, frequency of mowing, and type of mower all have a major influence on your lawn's health and attractiveness. Fertility, soil moisture, and temperature determine the optimum mowing schedule. SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum’s dense turf should be maintained at a mowing height of 1-2 inches. If using a rotary mower, mow at the higher height. Remember that it is imperative to keep the blade sharp, particularly with a rotary mower. Reel mowers will give a better cut, particularly when mowing at the lower height, but are not necessary for maintenance of a SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum lawn.

WEEDING SEAISLE SUPREME PASPALUM:

SeaIsle Supreme Paspalum grass spreads quickly during establishment and forms a dense turf—which will compete with the presence of weeds when properly maintained. However, all paspalum selections have relatively poor sensitivity to pre- and post-emergent selective herbicides.
